NORAEBANG

chris's deepest desire (besides having pasta) for her birthday was to go to the noraebang and sing her heart out! so, we all happily accompanied her. it was a BLAST! it was my first time to the korean style "singing room." in the united states, my experience of karaoke has been singing in front of piles of people you don't know who could throw beer caps at you and boo you off stage at any moment. quite frightening and something i'd rather not take a chance on. well, in korea you get your own room! either alone or with a group. it's decked out with a couple of loungy sofas, flashing disco lights, a crazy sound system with tons of reverb and a list of songs that take you back in time! yes, there are some up-to-date, pop songs on the list, but honestly, the ones really worth singing are from well over a decade ago, at least!

sarah gracing us with a little van halen!chris doin' a mean shakira!! "starry starry night
paint your palette blue and grey
look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul."

oooohhhh, vincent....."on a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
up ahead in the distance, i saw a shimmering light
my head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
i had to stop for the night.....
welcome to the hotel california
such a lovely place
such a lovely face
plenty of room at the hotel california....."

what can i say, i love the slow, lovely ballads! although, my debut was pink's "get the party started!" just for you, laur!
